La Segunda is a historic Cuban bread bakery in Ybor City, a lively, multicultural neighborhood of Tampa, which provided the backdrop for the Cuban cigar-making industry in the early 20th century. Since opening our doors in 1915, we have continued to hand-bake Cuban bread in the 36-inch loaf style and tradition, topped with a palmetto palm leaf to create the signature split. Our passion as artisan bakers means that we continue to follow the original Cuban bread recipe that founder Juan Moré discovered in Cuba.

Now in our fourth generation of family ownership, La Segunda’s Cuban bakery has remained a time-honored Tampa landmark while expanding into a thriving commercial bread bakery. The proofer gently rotates and rolls our specially-blended dough, helping only to create the consistent shape of our 36-inch and 18-inch loaves of Cuban bread.
